Yep, don't fall off your chairs but I'm BACK - back into scrapping that is. After a brief hiatus with a new baby my urge to scrap has kicked in big time! To get me back into it I created this layout with photos of Joshie from a couple of years ago. He takes after me with his love of Guy Fawkes, and every year he's getting harder and harder to get into bed during that week of November...
I started with a piece of velvet paper that I've been too scared to use for ages as it's so expensive, but it was perfect to give some texture and a real night feel. I used glimmermist and a screen to add a bit of interest (note if you're using this paper it absorbs a lot!) and cut the scalloped edges from some diecut paper I had (My Minds Eye). I printed a big panoramic strip photo of some of the fireworks and edged this with the scalloped edges. From the same paper I cut out the circles and then cut the nicks in them for a bit of extra detail. I used some of the Twiddleybitz I love so much, these shooting stars were perfect to give the layout a real feel of movement like fireworks. I painted them gold and sprinkled them with some glass glitter, then added some dimensional magic to the star part only, then sprinkled a little more glitter on and let it dry. I added a wee gold flower starburst and a touch of dimensional pearls to finish. I dotted dimensional pearls around the accents to add interest and added some distressing stickles in blue just because I could. :)
Finally I added some large circles (made up of smaller circles) and coloured them in with dimensional magic for a subtle touch that brings the page together and accents the focal area.
To those that have voted for me at penscrappers thank you very much too! much appreciated :)
