Hiya
I've had a busy week and have neglected my blogging duties.. LOL Anyhooo...
I can finally share this layout with you that I originally did for my Embellished DT entry, and then sent for publication. It's been soooooo long since it was accepted, sent and returned that I'd pretty much forgotten about it, but here it is if you haven't seen it before - in the latest Scrapbooking Memories mag.
I've been busy doing lots of layouts for Embellished, and wouldn't you know after 5 months on the team I only just found out that I can add items from my own stash as long as the items I get sent are predominant! Sheeze, talk about slow learner... can't wait to get on with the rest of them now!
I threw together this card for Embellished using the American Crafts papers - not normally papers I'd choose but they're so funky and they have a delicious gloss/foil accent on many of them that makes them just that bit different. And I like different. Now I'm not much of a cardmaker normally so no laughing!! At least I won't have to make my brother a card for his birthday now... :)
If you haven't heard The Sketchbook is having a retreat in Auckland on Halloween weekend - it's only $180 for the full weekend including food, accommodation and a challenge pack. There are classes included by the fabulouso Nic Howard (can't wait for the one!) and the super-talented Faye Gregory. I've never done a class or been on a retreat before so this'll be all new for me and I can't wait!
Oh, and while I'm on the topic, congratulations to Hannah and Megan for being the inaugural designers on the new Design Team at CraftyTart! I'm sure you'll have a kazillion fabulous layouts to share with us as usual!
If you haven't entered yet, the Up2Scrap design team call closes very shortly! I haven't heard of many entering so far so maybe I'll have a chance after all! LOL...Up2Scrap has really become a great magazine since it began, the only fault with it is that it doesn't come out often enough!
I'm such a magazine hound, I buy 3-4 a month and sit for hours poring over them. I was quite disappointed that Scrapbooking Memories and For Keeps both excluded NZ from their elite team calls this year, I get both those magazines continually and would've like to have given it a go but I'm hoping they'll have a change of heart for next year.
I'm off for my hospital checkup today with my gastro-guy (sounds soooo much friendlier than my specialist). He's a lovely doctor and although I feel very comfortable with him (even though he'll tell me off for not having a blood test in a while), I still hate going. Firstly, you have to get weighed in the waiting room area. Now, I'm a big girl and to have to jump on the scales with half a waiting room sitting in rows watching you is rather intimidating. They turn the scales so no-one can see them, and they're always very professional but STILL! Then I have to have a doctor poking around certain areas of my anatomy that I'd rather he didn't, all while keeping up the pretext of a conversation about my weekend. Then I get sent off for blood tests with a vindictive nurse at the hospital (who always tells me it will hurt). Now I'm no wimp, I've had some pretty horrible procedures done and have a reasonably high pain threshold. I also get blood tests done regularly (usually once a month) and needles don't bother me much. But when you get a russian nurse with an attitude who seems to be deliberately trying to leave her mark on you then I get a few butterflies before my visit.... *sigh*
It's just one of those times of the year (and my age) where it's time I got checkups, I've got doctors, radiologists and dentists on my list and I'll get it all done over the next couple of weeks. I'm also going to cut off my hair as it's driving me up the wall. I've been trying to grow out my fringe and it's at that OMG-I-can't-stand-it-in-my-face stage and is way too long. I have very fine hair (but lots of it) and an annoying wavy/ringlet thing happening when it gets long, so have decided to go shoulder length and lose the fringe... all very radical - just hope I don't get scalped!
